Anyway the process of adopting a desert tortoise is fairly simple. You call the museum, they will send you some info, they come inspect your yard (the tortoise’s future home), if you pass their requirements then they will contact you to set up a date/time for you to come pick up your “new pet.”
Now in regards to our tortoise’s interesting name, that’s simple. Tia wanted “Rocky” and Jonathan wanted “Tank” so in order to maintain peace and harmony in the home the tortoise was named “Rocky Tank”.
Rocky Tank was adopted Oct. 23, 2009.

Leaving the Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum.
Joshua welcoming and petting Rocky Tank in our back yard - his new home.
Eating as much as he can...because guess what? He has to go into hibernation.
